Kanagawa
The name “Kanagawa” refers to Kanagawa Prefecture, the coastal region south of Tokyo. Inspired by Hokusai’s The Great Wave off Kanagawa, the name traces back to the first Japanese design created for Sylk Dynasty and the beginning of the collection itself. It has since grown beyond a single image, becoming a broader expression of Japan through its history, landscapes, symbolism, and enduring relationship with nature.

Waves draws from the commanding force at the heart of Hokusai’s work: a presence that moves without hesitation and endures without surrender. The ocean may change in shape, rhythm, and intensity, but its power remains. As the first Japanese model created for Sylk Dynasty, Waves represents perseverance: the strength to continue, the will to withstand, and the certainty of forward movement.
